WT10 - Hammers - Vardogr 10"

Hammers return with their idiosyncratic dark take on the hardcore genre, unrelentingly fast, loud, and occasionally crust/d-beat heavy. Having been around for a few years, and now back from a short break, the maturity of this sophomore record is evident in the lyrical content, album concept and development of their sound. This is a faster, dirtier, heavier record than 'Orogeny' - we love it.

500 copies. Split release between Adagio 830 (our new bffs), Win Htein, Pain of Mind and the band.

Have a listen here http://hammers.bandcamp.com/

WT09 - Man Hands / Lich - split 10"

Two of Kent's unholy triumvirate join forces for a fastcore / sludgey massacre. A joint effort courtesy of Parade of Spectres, Win Htein, Adagio 830 and Dingleberry Records.

7 songs from Man Hands, 3 from Lich, 500 copies.

Have a listen to 'Deep Wastes' from the Lich side here - it's absolutely blistering:

And Man Hands' 'Mint Yoghurt' here:

WT08 - Momentum - Whetting Occam's Razor tape

Momentum formed in 2011, featuring members of Plague Mass, Light Bearer, Fall of Efrafa and XZieglerX, playing driving, epic heavy and melodic DIY hardcore punk, both crushing and uplifting, ignoring sub-genres and getting back to the basics of why we love playing fast political music. Influenced by the words of Carl Sagan, and other luminary thinkers, the music forms around a set idea, that of our place in the universe, the hatred and anger and stupidity of a species of ape, on a small insignificant planet, but also our ability to look beyond these facile ideas and appreciate and begin to understand the awe of the universe.

This is a tape release of Momentum's debut record 'Whetting Occam's Razor', previously released on Halo of Flies (US) and Alerta Antifascista (DE).

150 copies were made, 75 red, 75 black cassettes.

July

After the best weekend at CMAR with old and new friends, we're back with a well-deserved blog update...

- the distro has been updated  (... with Thou, Filthpact, Panzram, Shoppers, Autarkeia, Fell Voices, Alpinist, Masakari, Fall of Efrafa, Tesa, Titan, Cloud Rat, Bokanovsky and much more....) thanks to our long-awaited trades with Coffee Breath, Bitter North, Halo of Flies, IFB, Alerta Antifascista and more.
- the Hammers 'Vardøgr' records are in - we've given one a spin and it's seriously A+
- the Remek / Child Meadow split 12", along with its detailed insert booklet (so much love has gone into this record) will be in any day now
- the Lich / Man Hands split 10" (which looks awesome, by the way) is in stock and ready to roll
- the Moat tape and Hungry Lungs 7" have almost sold out but we've still got a few copies. The Momentum tape (available in red or black) is still available too.
- show-wise, Will's been hard at work with the last ever Battle of Wolf 359 UK show and the upcoming Tempest / Lich and Bonehouse and Slingshot Dakota and Defiance, Ohio and Heartless shows in London. Drop us an email for more info (this blog's rarely updated....)
- the distro list has been updated (see the link at the top), and if you're after anything then let us know at winhteinrecords@gmail.com

Love always, Lucy & Will x

“As the hours, the days, the weeks, the seasons slip by, you detach yourself from everything. You discover, with something that sometimes almost resembles exhilaration, that you are free. That nothing is weighing you down, nothing pleases or displeases you. You find, in this life exempt from wear and tear and with no thrill in it other than these suspended moments, in almost perfect happiness, fascinating, occasionally swollen by new emotions. You are living in a blessed parenthesis, in a vacuum full of promise, and from which you expect nothing. You are invisible, limpid, transparent. You no longer exist. Across the passing hours, the succession of days, the procession of the seasons, the flow of time, you survive without joy and without sadness. Without a future and without a past. Just like that: simply, self evidently, like a drop of water forming on a drinking tap on a landing.”  Perec.

WT07 - Moat - s/t tape

This has been available for a month or two now, but typically, we've neglected to blog about it.

First recorded output from new London band Moat. 4 tracks of brutal, bleak, 90s'style metallic hardcore - though strictly not 'metalcore' - political Catharsis worship, inspired by Orwell and Debord. Poignant lyrics about the fragility of mental health in modern civilisation, and humankind's eternal conflict with nature. A must have.

They have a Split 7" with Tyburn coming out soon on Hemlock 13 records from Leeds, which we'll hopefully stock too.

March

-Next up is the Moat s/t tape (super DIY!), which should be ready for a release show in Brighton, the weekend of 30/03/12

-The tape version of Momentum's 'Whetting Occam's Razor' record will be out mid-April.

-Though a little delayed, the split LP from out European friends Child Meadow & Remek (WT05) should be available late April, which we're SO excited about. Check out Remek's side here - http://remekdiy.bandcamp.com/album/split-lp-w-child-meadow

- Next, we have the murmurings of the next Hammers full length - the Vardogr 10". It'll be recorded by the end of this month, and available in May. More details to come....

-Finally, we're happy, and humbled, to be involved in the Lich / Man Hands split 10". Both bands are comprised of some wonderful friends we've made over the last few years, and the tunes are incredible. Definitely the best songs recorded so far by each band. Release date is TBC, but definitely within the next few months. It's a co-release with the mighty Parade of Spectres & Adagio 830.

peace out - enjoy the sun! x
